High School Bowling Team

If you like to bowl and have the desire to become a better bowler, then the Albany Area High School bowling team may be a good fit for you! Practice a few days a week and there will also be local competitions on Saturday afternoons! (Students in grades 5 & 6 are eligible for practices only.) All skill and experience levels are welcome! Students may attend up to two practices before committing to join. Competitions will take on Saturday afternoons in Albany, Brainerd, Cold Spring, Little Falls, Sartell and St. Cloud. Competition features the Baker System, where five bowlers each bowl two frames to complete a single game in a head-to-head match with an opposing team. It is a very exciting competition format for both players and spectators. Competition dates and locations to be determined.

High School Bowling is a fall co-ed sport. The regular season runs from early September through mid-November. In 2025, more than 1,150 bowlers around the state participated in 105 Varsity and 105 Junior Varsity teams. Minnesota High School Bowling is administered by the Bowling Proprietors Association (BPAM) and is governed by a set of rules that have been modeled after those of the Minnesota State High School League. We need at least 5 participants (preferably 6) in order to make each team. There will be only one Varsity team of 5 or 6 bowlers, and then if we have enough participation, we would coordinate JV teams. Competition dates and locations to be determined- will be held on Saturdays at 1:30 pm not on school breaks or holidays.

Students will bowl right after school at 12:30 pm on Early Release Days and at 3:30 pm on Non-School Days and At-Home Learning Days.

Transportation for this program is not available through Albany Area Schools district transportation. There may be a transportation option available through the Albany Bowling Center. To contact them, please call Steve or Wally at 320-845-4732. Any student being picked up at school by an alternate pick up must send a parent note to school stating who will be picking up their child.
